We delivered 200 kits to Shoreline today for the Philippines. They will be shipped on Friday to North Manilla, Philippines where they will go to homeless women and girls living in a cemetery. The charity there helps the women to get job training, and helps the girls get in and stay in school. The volunteer who will fly over to distribute them promised LOTS of pictures and feedback.
We had a successful workshop this Saturday and packed 70 kits to go to Guyana to the rainforest areas with a gynecologist who is travelling from Yakima to do medical mission work there. These kits will go out in October.
We also packed 70 kits for Guatemala that will go with Pat Sevigny's sister out of Spokane to Coban, Guatemala, to a school that primarily serves families who reside in the largest garbage dump in Central America. These kits will go over in January.
This week we will pack 70 kits to go with a woman from Yakima who is working on her Masters in Public Health and doing a medical mission to the Dzaleka refugee camp in Malawi which shelters people who have fled wars in Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. These kits will go out in October.
Keep up the good work! Our motto at Freedom Kits is, "you're never done."
